A Thousand Boy Kisses: Details About the Film
Deadline has reported that Netflix is developing a film adaptation of the novel, which is set to be directed by Stephen Chobsky, who previously directed the adaptation of his own bestselling YA novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower in 2012.
Chobsky appears to reach for adaptations of novels, having written the screenplay and directed 2017’s Wonder, as well as having co-written the screenplay for the 2017 live-action adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. No news yet regarding casting, but the book community will surely have opinions on the matter in the coming months.
The Love of Romance Adaptations
This news comes at a time when adaptations of romance novels continue to rise in popularity. The third season of Netflix’s massive hit Bridgerton continues to amass high viewership, and the anticipated theatrical release of Colleen Hoover’s mass sensation It Ends with Us premieres in August of this year.
Even Prime Video has begun to jump on the trend, with Maxton Hall – The World Between Us making waves on that platform this year after its release (the German-language television show is based on Mona Katsen’s novel Save Me).
In similar news, A Thousand Boy Kisses is finally getting a sequel due out this summer! Expect more romance and tears from A Thousand Broken Pieces, which will be published on July 23rd. What are your thoughts about the adaptation of A Thousand Boy Kisses? Let us know in the comments!
