Steve Zahn has been announced as the new character in Silo season 2, but only by this image. It does not give us more information than this. All we know, based on the information given to us by Graham Yost, in an interview he did, is that Juliette is not dead, she ventures into a new silo to survive, and she is not alone…

If you’ve read the books, you know that the book adaptation follows the original story pretty closely. Juliette is in a new silo and she is not alone… I would venture a pretty good guess that Steve Zahn’s character, Solo, will appear most likely in episode 3 or 4 of the new season.
Steve Zahn’s (Solo) Silo Season 2 Story
Solo, Steve Zahn’s character in Silo season 2, is a survivor of an uprising decades ago. Graham Yost confirmed that there will be an episode with a flashback to an uprising in Silo 17, the silo where Juliette escapes the poisonous outside air from. In that uprising, people from Silo 17 led a rebellion trying to go outside, not believing that the air is deadly.
After the uprising and the death of many of the people in Silo 17, solo, who is only a child at the time of the rebellion is left alone in the silo to survive. Without a proper education and a role model is has the mind of a young 10-year-old child, but considering it has been years since the rebellion, he is also a middle-aged man when Juliette finds him.
Together they form a friendship and try to survive the hostile and flooded environment of Silo 17. This has also been confirmed in an interview with Rebecca Ferguson, where she mentioned that she spent most of her time filming Silo season 2 in water.

Solo is a vital character in the show as he shows Juliette that there are multiple silos and that there is a way to communicate with other silos as well! He is a pivotal character as he allows Juliette to communicate with her home, Silo 18.
Additionally, without going into too much detail, the main mission of Juliette is to get back home. This is where Solo also plays a major role and helps Juliette on her quest in Silo season 2.
