Hey, horror fans and Stephen King devotees!
So, Salem’s Lot got another movie adaptation in 2024, and… well, let’s just say the reactions have been mixed. If you’ve read the book and seen the new movie, there is a lot to be discussed!
What’s your honest take on the 2024 Salem’s Lot movie compared to King’s novel?
Did the movie capture the creepy small-town vibe that made the book so chilling? Or did it miss the mark on what made the novel a classic? Maybe there were changes that you actually liked?
And hey, if you haven’t read the book, we’d still love to hear what you thought of the movie on its own.
I personally found that the amazing horror book that Salem’s Lot is, its movie adaptation was just subpar… The pacing was not great, it revealed the main vampire mere minutes into the movie, which was the complete opposite in the book which had an amazing tension build-up for a good part of the story.
Additionally, some character development was pretty poor. For example, most of the adults in the movie were just pretty uninteresting. Maybe a few characters here and there, but if the whole movie was mainly about Mark Petrie’s character or the kids, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
There are so many things that were not great with it, but it still did well with some characters, visual effects and makeup, and cinematography. It has some beautiful shots…
