Colleen Hoover is a great writer, no doubt about that. She’s written multiple bestsellers over the years, despite the fact that a lot of them are about toxic relationships and abuse.
Now, some of her more successful books are being turned into movies. With the success of It Ends With Us movie, a lot more books are being adapted into movies in the next few years.
For example, here are all the books by Colleen Hoover being adapted into movies; It Ends With Us (already released), Regretting You is supposed to get a movie, release date unknown for now, Verity, and now Reminders of Him has also been announced…
Even though It Ends With Us movie was pretty well received, it still portrays and romanticizes relationship abuse and issues, which is not a great thing. We’ve covered it extensively in our podcast discussion.
Movies have a wider appeal and reach more people than books, which could have a detriment to the audiences that watch them.
So do you think that Colleen Hoover’s book adaptations need to stop? Should those books just stay books?
Of course, there is a big money machine behind this, but this could come to a detriment to society.
