After a gripping first season that saw Juliette literally shattering the truth in Silo’s carefully constructed world of lies, Season 2 takes an unexpectedly slower pace – but don’t let that fool you.
Where season 1 was a charged sprint through conspiracy and a brewing start of a possible rebellion, this new chapter is playing a longer, darker game that promises to excavate (pun intended for Silo book readers here) the deepest secrets buried in Silo 17 history.
The explosive revelations of the first season – from Juliette’s love interest’s shocking truth to the mystery beyond the airlock – set an almost impossible bar for narrative momentum. Yet rather than attempting to match that pace, Season 2 opts for something more in-depth; a deep dive into the history and understanding of how silos actually work, what is behind the IT vault, and more.
The first few episodes are not so much pumping the brakes as they set for an amazing adventure of resilience and uncovering the truth about what is about to unfold.

If you have been following the developing story of Silo season 2, just before its release, you’ve undoubtedly seen this tweet or at least images from this tweet. These are some of the early screenshots of the second season from multiple episodes.
Most of those images have already been revealed;
- Top left: something yet to come
- Bottom left: Juliette enters Silo 17 and removes her suit (episode 1)
- Top right: probably episode 5, Juliette’s underwater adventures
- Bottom right: Juliette sitting by the wall, somewhere in Silo 17 or beside the vault talking to Solo
Therefore, based on these images, the second season has much more to offer!

One of the more interesting and probably the longer parts of the second season will be how Juliette manages to navigate the flooded floors of Silo 17 with Solo.
As of episode 3, we know that Solo finally decided to come out from his highly guarded vault. He is last seen sitting on a bridge with Juliette trying to get a grasp of his home which he never really explored.
The problem is that Juliette needs to get back to her home, Silo 18. In order to do that, she needs to explore and go into the flooded areas Silo 17 with the help of Solo.
Why does she need to do that? Well for one, she needs to find firefighters’ suits to potentially use that to go back outside and return to Silo 18. Another reason is to pump out the water so that she can access lower levels of the silo.

Remember the scene from the first episode, where young Juliette is hanging out on a bridge with a pit full of darkness below? This is somewhere where she will need to get access to in order to get back to her silo.
If you’ve read the books, you know that in order to dig out silos, they had to bring in giant excavators. Well, removing them after they were done was an almost impossible task, so they were simply left under the silo. This is the bridge where young Juliette sits. Under that bridge, in the darkness is one of those giant excavators.
However, in Silo 17, most of the lower levels are underwater. Juliette will need to get to the lower levels and to that bridge to get even lower in the depths of Silo 17 to access the excavators. I am not going to elaborate further than that, mainly because this is something that will, most likely, be at the end of the second season.

Why Is Silo Season 2 Slow To Start?
From my point of view, as a reader of the books and avid watcher of the show, Silo season 2 is slow to start because they need to build the story and world of Silo. They need to show the perspective from two different silos, the impact that Juliette’s leaving has on her home, and set up season 3.
Without it, there would not be enough tension and anticipation being built. You can think of the second season as a bridge between the ending of season 1 and the revelations of what is to come in seasons 3 and 4.
