It’s July! That means it’s time for us to kick off beach reads month, and we’re diving in headfirst. For the entire month, we’ll be chatting about our favourites, questionable favourites, and what beach reads mean to us as readers.
And what would this hot and happy month be without some teen romance? This week, we’re dissecting the sweet-if somewhat unrealistic-courtship of the Netflix adaptation of Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. The film that propelled Noah Centineo to 2010s heartthrob. Crushes, a fake relationship and awkward love letters make for an overall sweet film…but we have some reservations about how these stories skew expectations for its audience. Time to see if streaming services think that a teen romance can really survive high school.
