Couple that with the charming banter with her agent-turned-best-friend Jack, and the chemistry leaps off the page. I adored their back and forth – this is a coupling with true friends-to-lovers energy. I love to see it. If anything I would have enjoyed a few more moments of romance between the two when their relationship evolved beyond its friendship element. I’m a sucker for people who find their person in their best friend.

The Story
We’re always told to write what we know, and Melissa Ferguson has certainly turned the spotlight on the world of publishing with this one. Her journey into the world of ghostwriting, who reaps the rewards of the efforts of others, and who falls short is refreshingly poignant. I appreciated Bryony’s strong feelings regarding her work, and her devastation at seeing Amelia’s complete lack of interest in the stories that have made her a household name.
The addition of Bryony’s multitude of ESL students adds even more heart to the tale. Her love for The Bridge organization and its benefit to the community provides a charming layer to this tale. It’s impressive when a romance novel can create an entire functional universe within its pages, and The Perfect Rom-Com achieves it with striking ease.
