It has almost been one year since the initial release of Silo season 1, which has taken the internet and everyone’s screens by storm. Currently sitting at an IMDB rating of 8.1/10, Silo is definitely among the highest-rated book-to-TV show adaptations as of late, and a faithful adaptation at that. Fans of the books have been thrilled to see that the show stuck to the source material very closely. I, for one, was excited to see the world of Silo be brought to life in the adaptation.
Despite the fact chatter has died down about the show, it has not left anyone’s mind. Silo is still trending and is talked about in the media with shows like Fallout making a splash and Rebecca Ferguson teasing the fans with what she will be doing in Silo season 2 as well as when it has finished filming.
I’ve been following the book’s author, Hugh Howey pretty closely, as well as the cast of Silo and there is a small glimmer of hope regarding the second season of Silo, coming directly from Hugh Howey, who is an executive producer of the show.

Hugh Howey Provides An Update On Season 2
If you are a huge fan of the show and the books such as myself, you might be following some of the closest people to the show, such as Hugh Howey himself. He has recently posted on Threads an update regarding the show.

Undoubtedly, this is not only exciting for him, but for the whole fan base! He is an executive producer of the show and is very closely involved in the creative direction of the adaptation. It stands to reason that he would be one of the first people to see season 2 of Silo! And if he is excited, then so are we! However, there is something more to discover if you bother reading through the replies to the Thread post.

Silo Season 2 Potential Release Date In 2024?
As a hardcore fan of the show as much as Hugh Howey’s books, I of course read through all of the comments to his original post and found a golden nugget of information, which might have been skipped and overlooked by others.
A very lucky user replied to the Thread post praising the second season of the show but also mentioning his disappointment that he and all fans alike would have to wait until 2025 to see Silo season 2. This is where the golden nugget of information comes in, directly from Hugh Howey himself, saying “Maybe not that long…”

Given this information, could it be possible that Silo season 2 releases somewhere in the fall of 2024? This is very likely! Let’s explore a bit more as to why.
Silo Season 2 Potential Release Timeline
Wool was initially supposed to be adapted as a movie, but the project was shelved and then picked up by Apple TV+. Principal photography started in August 2021 and then first started streaming in May of 2023.
In March of 2024, Rebecca Ferguson confirmed that the filming of season 2 was complete. Now, just because a season is finished filming, it does not mean it’s ready. There is still a lot of post-production work that needs to be done. However, given that season 2 will majorly be in a similar setting, there is probably not that much post-production that really needs to be done. If we are looking at an October or November 2024 release window, just in time for the holidays, this gives the production just about 8 to 9 months of post-production work.

Season 2 Plot
If you’ve read the books, you are aware that the TV show follows the story pretty closely. This also feeds into a potentially faster post-production style.
Rebecca Ferguson has also confirmed in an interview that she is in a lot of water for a good part of the second season. This follows the book’s story almost to the T.
~ Spoiler Alert ~
At the end of Silo season 1, we learn that after Juliette has been sent to clean, is able to make it over the hill, and discovers that the world is, in fact, dead as her suit starts to deteriorate. She must quickly find shelter or perish. Since we know that the show follows the book’s story pretty closely and if you’ve read the books, you know what will happen next.
She finds a different silo nearby in which is able to break in and get away from danger. This new silo is however seemingly abandoned and half filled with water. Juliette soon discovers that she is not alone and must swing through and under the water-filled silo in order to survive.
She meets new characters, learns a lot more information about the outside world and what silos are really for, and much more. We also continue to follow the story of the other main characters who are left in silo 18 from season 1.
Silo season 2 promises, so far at least from the executive producer and the main character, to be a very exciting season of one of the most anticipated TV shows as of late.
