Two episodes in, and I’m starting to wonder if someone hit the slow-motion button on the beloved Silo series. Don’t get me wrong – Rebecca Ferguson is still captivating as Juliette, but for those of us who devoured Hugh Howey’s books, this pacing feels like watching paint dry in an already dim silo.
Remember how the books kept us on the edge of our seats with revelations about the silo’s true nature, power struggles, and brewing rebellion? Yet here we are, two episodes deep into Season 2, and it feels like we’re stuck in administrative meetings about mechanical engineering (no offense to mechanical engineers).
The first season masterfully balanced world-building with plot progression, keeping both book fans and newcomers engaged. But now it seems like the showrunners are taking the “slow burn” approach a bit too literally. There’s a fine line between building tension and testing viewer patience – especially when we know the explosive events that should be unfolding.
There is so much more to come in the next episodes but because the season is basically split into two storylines, this might be a bit of a drag…
Are we being too impatient as book readers, or has the show lost its grip on what made this dystopian world so compelling in the first place?
