Silo’s current season is not over just yet, but the anticipation for Silo season 3 is already building. Announced just this week by the Apple TV+ X account, Silo has been renewed for not just season 3 but season 4 as well. Based on Hugh Howey’s gripping dystopian Wool, Shift, and Dust book series, the show delves into a world where humanity’s survivors struggle to stay alive in deep underground silos.
As we know from season 1 and currently streaming season 2, Juliette, the main character, survives the outside world that is deemed toxic by the inhabitants of the silo and manages to survive and reach another silo. The fact that Juliette did not clean and went over the hill enthralls the habitants of Silo 18, Juliette’s original home silo, who become fervent supporters of “JL” and are about to incite a rebellion.
This major plotline of a new rebellion and how Juliette plans to get back to her silo, will clearly not get resolved in only two seasons. This is why Silo has been renewed for seasons 3 and 4, effectively splitting the last two books, Shift and Dust, into two seasons.

Silo Season 3 Latest News
Silo season 3 has just been announced, therefore there is not much news out right now. However, we do have a few pieces of information available to us, even in these early stages of the show.
Season 2 Will Might End Differently, Which Might Change Season 3
ISBN: 9780544839649
One thing that we know for sure, is that season 2 will end differently than how the first book, Wool, ends. This is taken directly from Graham Yost, one of the show-runners of Silo, who mentioned in an interview with TVLine:
In a slightly different way, but yes. To a degree …There’s a big surprise at the end of the season — and that’s all I’ll say.

Additionally, we know that the newly announced season 3 and 4 will be shot back-to-back. This is something that was mentioned in the Empire Magazine Podcast where they spoke to Rebecca Ferguson and Tim Cook about the Silo series.
She mentioned that:
I have scheduled my home life. I’ve got my Pilates in. I’ve got a reformer on set. … when you get involved in something like this, the books are a certain quantity and mass, and we all knew how far it would have to go.

Silo Season 3 Plot
Despite the slow start to the second season of Silo, where the story is leading is definitely going to end on a big cliffhanger and with a bang. Even though Graham Yost said that the second season might end differently than the book, this is something that will impact Silo season 3.

Silo Season 2 Ending
Technically speaking, the end of the second season is only the end of the first book. Meaning that there are still two full stories that need to be adapted into two seasons of the show.
The ending of Silo season 2 should be Juliette coming back to her home and Silo and Bernard perishing. This is the quick ending of the story, but since we know it might be different from the book, here are the changes that we think will happen.
- Juliette will make it back to Silo 18 via the mine’s tunnels that she discovers in the flooded Silo 17.
- This is exactly how it happens in the books and is a major part of the story that will also impact the show’s last season.
- Bernard will not die.
- In the books, with Juliette being back in the silo and a rebellion brewing even more than before, Bernard’s authority is further undermined when Juliette becomes a symbol and a defacto leader of the silo.
- Bernard, in his attempt to defend the silo from a rebellion, decides to shut down the silo completely cutting it off from vital systems.
- Bernard kills himself in the airlock of the silo in an attempt to make a dramatic and symbolic gesture
- This we believe will not happen in the show as he is a vital character who still has a lot of story to be developed about.
Silo Season 3
If the books are to be followed, Silo season 3 is supposed to be a prequel story to the first two seasons.
In the second book, Shift, the story throws us back in time to understand where the silos came from, how and why they were built, the story of the early years in the silos as well as the psychological effects and toll on people of Silo 1. Silo 1 is the headquarters that directs all the other silos.
The problem with this is that it creates a need to introduce a multitude of characters and storylines which might be just out of the scope of the main story.
Therefore, we believe that Silo Season 3 will be another dual storyline between what is happening with Juliette and Silo 18 as well as the story of Silo 1, the main silo that is responsible for managing all of the silos in existence. Some of the backstory of how the silos were created will be sprinkled into the story, without going too deep as the books did.
We can expect to see new characters and cast members that are yet to be announced in the future.
