It’s July! That means it’s time for beach read month, and we’re diving in headfirst. For the entire month, we’ll be chatting about our best summer picks, questionable favourites, and what beach reads mean to us as readers.
It’s officially the last week of the month, and that means we’re paying homage to our other favourite beach read genre: the thriller. Specifically Gone Girl, the whodunnit thriller featuring an unreliable narrator. After Gillian Flynn skyrocketed to the top of the New York Times bestseller list, it would only be natural that an adaptation would be around the corner. Director David Fincher would deliver on this twisted tale of a dysfunctional couple in 2014, with an adaptation that measures up to its source material. Featuring a great script, excellent performances and Fincher’s signature dark tone, Gone Girl is a film that, while not often revisited, is great every time.
We hope you’re enjoying Beach Reads month! Be sure to check out all of our coverage of the genre over at https://fully-booked.ca/. We’re a listener supported podcast!
