Forget Real School: 5 Of The Best Fictional Schools We Would Attend

  • Camp Half Blood – Camp Half Blood Chronicles
  • U.A High – My Hero Academia
  • Brakebills – The Magicians
  • Walkerville Elementary – The Magic School Bus

Now let me dive into why I choose such a random assortment of fictional schools and why we all deserve to go to school at one of these places:

Hogwarts – Harry Potter

Hogwarts Express – Harry Potter

“I am going to bed before either of you come up with another cleaver idea to get us killed. Or worse, expelled.” – Hermione, Harry Potter

Another year passed and I did not receive my letter into Hogwarts. I dream of riding the Hogwarts express. It seems a far superior way to get to school. You have comfy seats, a trolly full of sweets, and you get to socialize and mingle with friends on the way to school. Then once you arrive you get sorted into houses, your family while you are away.

Having a house to support you and help you through your studies sounds like an amazing support system that will be there during and after school. Then you see the great table and the feast that awaits you. I LOVE food. That table seems like the perfect place to stress eat at, the perfect place to sit down with friends after a long day , and the perfect place to celebrate your teams quidditch win. And who wouldn’t want to play quidditch?

Either on your houses team, or just with some friends out in the filed — quidditch is a sport anyone would love to play. And maybe the best part? Pets are welcomed in the school! Your owl? He gets to be there. You have a rat? Sure he can come. A frog? Yep bring him! Having my pet with me really would help manage all the stressful things school can throw at you. On top of all that the classes seem to be more interesting than what you would normally study at school. You get to learn potions, spells, you get to know about dragons and mystical creatures. Way better than math…

Camp Half Blood – Camp Half Blood Chronicles

CampHalfBlood min

“Once I got over the fact that my Latin teacher was a horse, we had a nice tour, though I was careful not to walk behind him.” – Rick Riordan, The Lightning Thief

If you made it to this camp then you know you are a demi god. And you just arrived at a safe haven that is protected and designed to teach you everything a young demi god needs to know to make it in this life. At camp half blood you get to train and harness your powers. You finally get to meet Mom or Dad, and you get to discover your family history.

On top of that you are learning how to defend yourself and use your powers in a way that won’t harm those around you. You learn about ancient Greece, the gods, and so much more. You are surrounded by peers who understand you and everything that comes with being a demi god. They are there for you during training and they are there for you during quests. Because at camp half blood, you get sent on quests.

These quests usually serve a bigger purpose and help you in finding the answer that you truly needed. The only reason this is second on the list is because its only in the summer you attend this school.

U.A High – My Hero Academia

UA min

“Whether you win or lose, looking back and learning from your experience is a part of life.”– All Might

For those of you who don’t know this fictional school, it’s most likely because I picked this one up from a comic book. U.A high—a high school where kids are trained on how to use their super powers. While I can go into detail about this school, let’s just stick to why I would die to go to school here. Their principal is a super genius, fluffy , amalgam of several different animals.

His back story is so intense ( genetic experimentation leads to super genius ) yet he is literally the best principal you could have. He is a dedicated teacher and would not hesitate to put himself on the line for any of his students or teachers. The teachers at this school all worked in the field using their powers to save the lives of people. They train and teach the kids based off real world experiences and all work together to make sure the students are prepared for the real world. This is so different from American schools where you aren’t taught real world things per say ( like how to do taxes ) but you are drilled into memorizing facts after facts.

Not only at U.A do you learn how to handle your powers and train — you are also taught traditional school subjects as well to help round out your eduction so you don’t have to rely just on brute strength in life. Lastly — the tech they have in this school is. so. cool. They are utilizing everything being alive in todays world really means and are able to roll that into all their class subjects and work.

Brakebills – The Magicians

BreakeBills min

“If you want to take over the world, we don’t teach that, but give it a go.” – Lev Grossman

This is a school almost like Harry Potter, if Harry Potter’s world was based in real life. You have cell phones, internet, economic recessions. But you are being trained on magic, spells, potions, and how to defend yourself. You get to time travel, use portals, be trained in all the magic spells and find what you are really good at.

It also happens to be located in upstate New York on a gorgeous campus. This book is also a bit darker than Harry Potter and that lets the school be a bit more adult like. This isn’t high school we are attending, but instead college. Going to Brakebills feels like what you would expect going to a magic school to be like, and it makes it all the more appealing. It’s like you can just reach out, and jump back to you college years. But have a bit of magic in there to spice things up.

Walkerville Elementary – The Magic School Bus

newmagicschoolbus min
Walkerville Elementary – The Magic School Bus

“As I always say, make mistakes, make mistakes, make mistakes! It’s the best way to learn something.” – Miss. Frizzle

Real quick, let’s take a jog down memory lane. The last fictional school I would have loved to attend if I was a fictional character would have to be Walkerville Elementary. This is the school Miss. Frizzle taught at. Miss frizzle seems like the best teacher anyone could ever hope for. She teaches by examples, and visuals.

She keeps her kids interested in the subjects and they are always on a field trip. Now these field trips are not like any filed trip I have ever been on. I feel like if I had the experiences these kids got, I would need a second brain to store all the information I would be learning. An example of just one of her field trips: a class field trip to the planetarium but when it closes Miss Frizzle puts every one on the bus and ZAP they get to go to space to finish learning. Going to this school would feel less like a chore and just make learning so fun. Especially during 3rd grade when all you want to do is run around and play with you friends.
